Last day of work, first day of vacation!

Well today...

I'm heading down to Georgia..for my 3 week....

or 2 week vacation (depending on if I get hired back here at MU for the rest of the summer).

Today I will spend the day in the car with my aunt Betsy and her twin boys. Usually I dread the car trip, but today I am looking forward to spending time with one of my closest relatives. We should be in Atlanta late tonight, I would say around 11:30 p.m. Makes for a long day. Tomorrow I am sure I will be up bright and early to enjoy the long awaited company with my cousins. I think a trip to the waterpark is in store for tomorrow, weather permitting. That should be interesting, chasing around 2 12 year old boys, a 13,10, and 8 year old girls. I guess that is what big cousins are for. Apparently I will get to go to the Braves game on Monday night. I'm VERY excited for that (gotta love baseball!!) Man, I can't believe my vacation is already here.

I found out today that I might be hired for the rest of the summer (after my vacation). I guess they have to find out if there is money available to hire me first. I really enjoy working on campus.

Off to lunch with Tara (coworker) and Barbara (the big cheese)..last day lunch!

My first college friend.

My first college friend...
Katy and Katie
My first true friend in college was Katy. We met through my first roommate, Corinne. We both had similar interests...and I think we were quite alike. We both wanted to do good in school but we went to college for more than a degree. We wanted to be young, we wanted to live, and we wanted to have fun. The first night that we went out was a Thursday when we went to a Pajama Party at the Pi Kapp house. Of course...this then led to Thursday nights at the Pi Kapp house every week. We started hanging out with KC, Sean, Ryan, Seth and Randy--we became one of the guys. We spent countless Saturday's sitting in our pajamas in Wilson Hall with the guys, playing video games and watching TV. While living in Butler Hall we would spend every evening with the guys until curfew at 12:00 and then head back to Butler for the night. We really became close when we took our road trip to Hanover College in Indiana. It was a spur of the moment type of thing..we just packed up and headed to Indiana to visit Derek, Katy's friend from high school. From then on out we were inseperable. Sometime before Thanksgiving we moved in together in Regents Hall. We were best friends. Katy is probably the best friend I've ever had. We had our share of arguments..we even lost touch for awhile..but it always reminded me of a saying I heard years ago. It was something along the lines of.."The toughest part of friendship is learning to grow together while growing separately" College is a time to be young, to find out who you are...so it will definitely put a strain on a friendship. However, if you come out of it okay, then it shows you that your friendship is true. Katy was the sister I never had. She never judged and was there to listen when I needed her. I'm sure I will miss her at 3:00 a.m. on a Thursday night..when we would meet up again from our long nights to fill each other in on all the fun.
