Good Monday
KatieMcComas
18:21h
I didn't know there was such a thing as a GOOD Monday morning, but today is a good morning. I have no idea why. Monday mornings always suck. Perhaps it is because I have such an exciting week ahead of me. TOMORROW I'M OFF TO MOREHEAD! Wednesday I start moving into the dorms, and Thursday I'm there to stay. Pretty exciting. Friday I start RA training, a little iffy about that, but whatever. Thursday is my last day working with computing services, YAY! Actually I like the guys I work with...I'm just tired of it. Some days are good and some days are bad, but I guess that is how the world works. Its still early, not much going on today..perhaps will write more later. ... Link Sunday, 11. August 2002
Reunited.

In two short days I will be reunited with my best friends..sometimes I think they're my only true friends. Don't get me wrong, I still hold a place in my heart for my old high school friends and my old softball teammates. I just think that when you live with people, day in and day out, you really get to know them. Katy was my roommate, couldn't get rid of her even if I had wanted to. She saw the best of me and the worst of me. She was there in my happiest moments, and she was there during the death of my grandpa, to take my mind off things and to listen. Courtney was across the hall, Jen a few doors down. I couldn't go to the bathroom without barging in and annoying Jen. The word privacy was unknown to us all on the 4th floor of Regents. Didn't have anything to wear, oh I'm sure Courtney does. It was a Saturday night, or was it Friday? Nontheless, it was a weekend night. We had high hopes on going out and having fun. We were all sitting in my room, Katy had just left to go out so it was Courtney, Jen and I. We start talking about who knows what and we somehow find ourselves discussing my grandpas death and funeral (it wasn't long after he had passed away). We are all talking and crying...we stay there talking for hours, by the time we realize it, its like 1:00 and there is no time to shower or get ready to go out. But that is one of my fondest memories. The talks like that really got us close to each other. I could talk forever about my girls, but now lets head on to the boys. I think Katy and I spent every night in Wilson Hall (frosh boys) till 12:00 (end of visitation hours) 1st semester. We would often go in our sweatpants, or straight from working out. We didn't mind, they didn't mind. We were just considered one of the guys. We never did anything exciting there, mostly watched the guys play grand theft auto. We just liked being in each others company: Seth, Sean, KC, Randy, Ryan, Chico, Me, Katy, Todd, Adam, Matt and anyone else who barged in the room. We spent most of our time in smokey 306. And I'll never forget our road trip to KC's..(Katy, Randy, Sean and I). Then there were the Pi Kapps, the best damn guys I've ever met. The first night I went out in Morehead was with Katy and we went to the Pi Kappa Phi Pajama party. We got into our cute PJ's and headed out for some fun. This was early September and we spent every night out with the guys until January. We never did anything really crazy, we just hung out and played games. We spent one Saturday there...all day doing laundry...eating pizza and playing cards with the guys. We would spend the night at the house...5 of us in one bed, laughing and talking all night. I haven't even mentioned the Gilley apartments. Bringing the mattresses downstairs so we could all sleep down there...Courtney, Jen, Adam, Luke, Brad and I. Good times. How about wearing Duncils pj's or pushing the beds together in Chad's room. We made them tomato soup and grilled cheese (so the grilled cheese didn't turn out so good, but we tried). God, those were some damn good times. Then towards spring I met the pikes. The forbidden pikes, yet they weren't as bad as I thought. There were some really good guys that I feel so fortunate to be friends with now. I met them in a spontaneous night out to Huntington with a whole group of guys that I did not know (only knew one, James). I kept thinking on the ride to H~town, what am I doing? I am so thankful that I went because if I had not, I wouldn't know how wonderful some of those guys are and I wouldn't have some of my good friends now. Some of my best memories come from Clints (believe it or not). We had some fun games of asshole at the coffee table and one fun made-up game in the empty room (hey, who spilled that?). One of my favorite times with the pike guys were when we went to Cave run. I think it was just Me, Jen, Courtney, DB, James, and Brad but I had a great time. Or how about going to Lukegi on one of our last nights there at 1:00 a.m. Did we ever find out who did all the shaving cream jokes? Well, on Tuesday I will be face to face with all the good times again. Its goin to be hard and I have been preparing myself all summer. Its goin to be hard to be with them again for such a short period of time and then be torn away again. I know that I will meet so many new people here at Marshall, and I've already had the chance to meet many already...but it won't replace my Morehead friends. I thank God every day that I was given the opportunity to get out of this town...to meet new people..and to have such WONDERFUL friends. ... Link ... Next page
